The University of Sheffield and The PrOPEL Hub

This event will discuss what working practices have permanently changed as a result of the pandemic and offer advice to practitioners.

Prior to the Covid 19 pandemic, the opportunity to work in a more flexible way was something that many employees craved. However with the onset of lockdowns and other restrictions, many of us were asked to establish our own home office and find ways to ‘make it work’! Now that we have emerged from restrictions, we feel the time is ripe to discuss what we have learned from this experience.

In this session, our panel will explore both the good people management practices that were manifest in the past two years as well as the challenges and frustrations of various employment arrangements that have been introduced. Ultimately, we would we like to think about what “the new normal” really looks like for employers in an increasingly dynamic employment landscape, now characterised by a cost-of-living crisis as well as labour and material shortages across many sectors in Northern Ireland.

This Knowledge into Practice event is organised in partnership with the PrOPEL Hub, an initiative aimed at translating academic research into practice.
